A portrait of a young Miskito boy on the beach of the Atlantic Coast of Nicaragua.

In one of my visits to Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua with my father, I got a chance to play around with the kids in the neighborhood. Behind the boy, you can see two women washing clothes.

Miskitos are native people to the region, a tribe called Miskito who live on the Miskito (Mosquito) Coast in Honduras and Nicaragua.

Puerto Cabezas, also known as “Bilwi”, is the capital of the North Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region (RACCN). The municipality and the entire region are indigenous lands.

Puerto Cabezas has tropical monsoon climate with significant precipitation year round, and a short dry season in March and April. Even so, these months see an average precipitation of 48 millimetres (2 in) and 54 millimetres (2 in). The average temperature ranges from a low of 24.5 °C (76.1 °F) in February to 27.8 °C (82.0 °F) in May.

En una de mis visitas a Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua con mi padre, tuve la oportunidad de jugar con los niños del vecindario. Detrás del niño, se puede ver a dos mujeres lavando ropa.

Miskitos son nativos de la región, una tribu llamada Miskito que vive en la costa de Miskito (Mosquito) en Honduras y Nicaragua.

Puerto Cabezas, también conocida como “Bilwi”, es la capital de la Región Autónoma de la Costa Caribe del Norte (RACCN). El municipio y toda la región son tierras indígenas.

Puerto Cabezas tiene clima monzónico tropical con precipitaciones significativas durante todo el año, y una corta temporada seca en marzo y abril. Aun así, en estos meses se observa una precipitación promedio de 48 milímetros (2 pulgadas) y 54 milímetros (2 pulgadas). La temperatura promedio varía desde un mínimo de 24.5 ° C (76.1 ° F) en febrero hasta 27,8 ° C (82,0 ° F) en mayo.
